During my visit, Health and safetyculture that was observed acceptable and many things were properly controlledbut there was also seen hazards that was the main issues at plant; there aremany hazardous chemicals used in papermaking process. Quite a few of them arevery hazardous. This hazardous chemical includes Anhydrous Ammonia, ChlorineDioxide, Formaldehyde, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Turpentine. Confined spacespresent many hazards, including some that can lead to death. One of the biggesthazards inside a confined space is the potential for hazardous gases to collectinside of them. These gases can be toxic, combustible, or present other hazardsto a worker in a confined space. Another hazard is that the confined space mayhave oxygen-deficient air, which could lead to a worker falling unconscious ordying.

There were also good thingshappening at the plant that the workers were very cooperative and well trained.Excellent security system is noticed and in all the sections, no one is able tovisit without proper verification. Well trained guards were present in everygate. Good hotels, neat and clean toilets, eating facility, resting facility,hand wash stations, drinking water points and other welfare facilities wereprovided to workers in factory. Proper selected parking area for officers andworkers were provided away from the working facility while managementpromisesto handle things that were improperly controlled. Some of these were veryhigh-risk activities which needed management attention.

It is amoral duty of a company to manage health and safety issues regardless of otheraims or targets related to productivity.
